Among new dog owners the question of training their dog not to bark at the
wrong time can be very difficult to answer. A bark shock collar is a good
solution to the barking problem, but a lot of people object to them because the
word "shock" brings them an image of electrocution.
The first thing that has to be understood is that dogs do not react to
‘punishment’ in the same way that people do, and there is a very simple reason
for this. Unless you try to ‘correct’ or ‘punish’ your dog at the very time it
is miss-behaving, it will not know why you are acting the way you are. Also, the
sense of "punishment" is different to dogs than it is to humans, which is also a
concept that new owners of dogs have trouble understanding. For example,
scolding the dog or shouting at it for several minutes might make the dog miss
the link between the bad behavior and the scolding.
Does a Bark Collar Work?
A dog bark shock collar will deliver a static shock to the dog whenever it
starts barking. The mild shock is a punishment delivered by the bark shock
collar at exactly the right time for the dog to associate one with the other.
Most dogs will soon learn that barking will be punished and will control their
impulse. The dog is never really hurt or in pain by the shock; it's actually the
confusion that makes it stop barking while it tries to figure out what happened.
Trainers agree that shock collars aren't cruel, but helpful when trying to teach
your dog to behave; and with time, the dog learns to avoid the shock completely.
Since the objective is to stop only inconvenient barking, a dog bark shock
collar shouldn't be used more than 30 minutes a day, and only in situations
where barking is inconvenient. Dogs are very smart animals and no more want to
be punished than any other animal or person. A dog's bark collar comes with
instructions, and if you just follow them, your dog will stop inconvenient
barking in no time.
A bark shock collar has a reputation of being cruel. Nevertheless, the shock is rather harmless and panlessl and it only confuses the dog a little. On the other hand, using a dog bark shock collar will help you train your dog and avoid invonvenient barking.
