The miniature husky was bred from Alaskan and Siberian huskies, and this breed is tenacious, curious and quite strong for their size. They are very energetic, proud and beautiful. The miniature husky is often confused with Klee Kai as they share many similar qualities, but the miniature husky are smaller versions of the Siberian husky, and have the similar temperament and basic genetics.

    Buying a Miniature Husky Puppy

Having a miniature husky puppy at home can be a rewarding and wonderful experience. Studies have shown that owning pets helps cope with stress, and love and affection given by them is priceless. Owning a miniature husky is a responsibility, but it can be lots of fun as well. Each breed of dog has been created for a specific purpose, and before you own a miniature husky puppy, you need to make sure that you have enough knowledge regarding the temperament, nature, general behavior, requirements and needs.

Before you make up your mind to own a miniature husky puppy, you need to make sure that you are willing to devote enough time for them as they require time and patience for training. Miniature husky dogs are not good watchdogs, so if you are looking for a pet with good guarding instincts who can keep the strangers at bay, looks for another breed. It is important to identify the needs prior to owning any breed of dog, else owners end up abandoning their dogs after a few years.

Generally, the miniature husky breed is friendly, sturdy, shy and mischievous with lots of stamina. Siberian miniature huskies have a wolfish look, and were mainly used by Nordic native tribes to guard the livestock and for warming up the tents during winter nights. This breed is very intelligent, and it does not get tired easily due to its small size.

Miniature husky dogs have different colors, but symmetrical mask markings all over the face are common. It is a gentle and friendly breed. The outer coat is straight and smooth, and the undercoat is dense and soft. During shedding season, regular brushing is required. This breed is susceptible to hip dysplasia, eye-problems and epilepsy.

Once you have a miniature husky puppy, the breeder can provide the best information regarding detailed history, diet, eating regimen and exercise requirement. With a miniature husky, it is important to maintain a strict diet and exercise regime.

It is not healthy to feed table scraps or human food to your miniature husky as their digestive system is not designed to metabolize these types of food items. If you feed them food that is meant for human consumption, they can become overweight and more susceptible to serious health problems.

An ideal diet for a miniature husky is the dry food that is high in fat and protein, but low in carbohydrates. A lot depends on their level of activity, and for the working dog, premium dog food with performance blend is a good choice.

Sometimes, the miniature husky dogs show loss of appetite, yet gain weight. You might be careful that other people should not be feeding junk food to your pet. This breed is beautiful and gracious and sports an arrogant look. They love to play and run, and easily become friends with other dogs. If any dog offends them, they would rather flee than fight. This compact and strong working dog has very few health issues, and some of the most common ones are allergies, cataracts, corneal dystrophy, glaucoma, and cancer.

Most of the miniature husky dogs are friendly, and love to be in contact with humans. Some of them are shy, but most are obnoxious and loud, and just leap to greet people passing by. Very few dogs of this breed are aggressive. This breed is not very trustworthy with small dogs, cats and livestock. They are usually friendly with children, but it is not advisable to leave them with a miniature husky unsupervised.

If you plan to own the miniature husky, make sure that you buy from a reputable breeder, and see the pictures of breed standard. Do not buy dogs from non-reputable sources such as hobby breeders or infamous private dealers. Dogs from good breeders are vaccinated, properly socialized, dewormed, and will not have serious temperamental and health problems. Owning a pet is a serious decision, as it requires long time commitment and dedication. Hence, consider carefully if you are planning to have a miniature husky, as this lovable pet requires lots of time and attention.
