Does anyone breed German Shepherd or Siberian Husky Puppies in Virginia Beach Virginia, and selling them?

I would really like to buy a German Shepherd Puppy or Siberian Husky Puppy for sale in Virginia Beach Virginia. Please help if you know anyone let me know.

Thanks : )

Um, rescue a puppy? There are plenty of German shepherd and Husky rescues in VA…maybe you could even find a cross of the two. No need to go pay a BYB.

How can Siberian huskies control their metabolism?

I do not understand why my Siberian husky named Balto, can run for so long, and at the same time, gain fat for his thick coat… He is not overweight, he is a very strong dog, I just do not understand the way huskies do this? Can you help?

Unlike "regular" dogs, sled dogs like Siberian Huskies are specifically designed to be incredibly athletic and to be able to run for so long without negative consequence. They have larger hearts to pump more blood more quickly, and through selective breeding, they've adapted to their functions (running great distances while pulling a heavy sled, for instance) by developing a sort of metabolic on/off switch. It was about half a year ago that I heard a short presentation on the subject, so my memory could be a bit foggy, but here it goes: you know how humans produce energy? Basically, they burn glucose, which is a simple sugar. When they run out of that, they start to burn fat. Fat requires much more oxygen to burn than does glucose, so it's a lot more taxing on the system. As a result, fatigue sets in. Sled dogs (who typically consume very fatty diets) burn glucose at rest and in the beginning of long exercise, but after awhile, they're able to switch to burning fat instead. They're able to do so much more effectively. They're also able to pull as much as twenty times as much energy from their bloodstream as humans. It allows them to exercise hard for insane amounts of time without succumbing to fatigue. However, as far as I last knew, the exact mechanism that allows them to use their metabolic on/off switch was not totally understood. Scientists are working hard to figure it out, since they believe that it may benefit humans.

As for what you describe as gaining fat for his thick coat, I wouldn't really call that fat, although I wouldn't know for sure. His just has some loose skin (as do most dogs, to a degree) and a very thick double coat.

If you want to learn more about his metabolism, I'm sure you'll pull up plenty of hits if you Google phrases like "Siberian Husky metabolism," "sled dog metabolism," "sled dog fat," so on and so forth.

Which puppies to get?

Tea cup yorkies or Siberian huskies? The tea cup are free and the huskies are 130€s and need to be shppied. Oh and my parernts don't know.
I live in a hot country but there are acs in every room and even in the den outside.
I live in a biggish house with a huge farm that. I own next to me.
Oh and my parents love animals, I have 3 cats, a parrot, a snake a hamster, fish and loads more in the farm. They like animals.

Just because they love animals doesn't mean they will allow you to get pets without their permission. I can tell you right now thought both situations are scams and despite any pictures you were emailed there are no dogs.

Siberian Husky puppies for sale?

I'm planning to get a siberian husky puppy for my birthday and i was wondering does anyone know of a siberian husky breeder in ireland ??

I would suggest googling siberian husky ireland. There should be a club website for the breed in that county (can also go through the FCI). They should have listings of breeders, and breeders that currently have pups for sale. I just answered question on finding siberian husky breeders in the USA. Here's the link:

Hope helps you find a responsible breeder.

How much does a Siberian Husky weight?

How much - on average - does a Siberian Husky weight. Because my 18 month old weights around 45-50 pounds, she is fairly skinny, but she eats. I know that dogs are not supposed to be fat, but I am worried that she isn't eating enough we feed her 2 times a day, and give her treats probably 2-3 times a week. We walk her daily and bring her to the beach for runs 2-3 times a week, sometimes more.

Thanks.
Forgot to mention she is purebred.

Hello,
Seems to me that you take very good care of your Siberian Husky, and that is a good weight for a female purebred. You feed her just enough, not to much not to little, and give her enough exercise, from what I can tell it seems like she should be very healthy.

Hope I helped.

I need some dog training advice?

I have a 5 month old Sibeiran Husky puppy. I exercise him a lot and give him lots of love, but I need to sharpen up his training. He already knows the basics, come, sit, lay down, he's starting to get stay. He also is really good outside and comes, unlike some huskies, who are known to be stubbon and free spirited.

I want to train him at home, rather than go to an obedience class. I don't live in town, and to drive all the way there for an expensive class, when I'm sure I can do it at home, doesn't seem worth it enough.

I need him to be more well mannered. I'd like to know how to get him to stay by my side, not to jump on people (he's getting better, but I have to ask him to get down). I just want him to be a little more polite. I know he's an abnoxious puppy, they all are, but I want to start re-enforcing good manners now while he's still young.

He also gets really excited and leaps in the air and pulls on the leash when he sees another dog. I take him to the Farmer's Market to socialize him, but he wants to go see everyone! Any advice how to keep him calm and stay by my side?

Also, any advice on how to stop pulling on the leash? He doesn't really do it, but my older Siberian Husky does and he's starting to follow her example and I want both of them to not pull. I don't agree with choke collars.

Any other training advice is welcome.

Thanks

BTW: I don't watch TV, so no dog training shows

I think you may be expecting too much, too soon from your 5 month old pup. Everything you describe regarding behavior is fine for a pup that age. The sharpness comes from constant repetition, constant reward/praise for good behavior and your pup's impulse control getting better as he matures.
The one thing I could recommend is to go back to your basics and start to decrease the response time and increase the activity time. For instance, if you are working sit, begin to work on how quickly he can sit when you give the command. Reward only the instant sit. Then tell him wait or stay. Start out with a one minute wait, then increase it to 2, 3, 4 minutes and so on. Up the ante some more and start moving around, backing up, turning your back on him…body language designed to "suggest" he should come and follow, but he is not allowed without the specific verbal or hand signal.
His jumping is probably excitement due to a normal puppy difficulty in mastering impulse control, particularly when he is presented with a social setting where he really wants to interact. The best way to work on this is to socialize as much as possible. Allow no one to approach or make eye contact with him. Put him in a sit or down until he is calmer. Only allow interaction on your command. This can be difficult for any puppy, but with calm, consistent training, in time he will get it.
Don't necessarily put a time limit on things…he is still young. He will get it with consistent training. I have found that people, even strangers are always happy to help and will stand and chat with you and NOT interact with dog until you give the command.(I have been doing this with my dog for years so he could pass the therapy dog test…he must never approach anyone with excitement , and only approach on my command. And he is almost perfect..If I could only get him to do this with my one uncooperative neighbor who always carries biscuits for him, he would be 100 proof!!
If he is pulling on the leash to get to someone or something, there are several techniques to use.
One is the immediate turn the opposite way and keep walking …the other is for you to anticipate his pulling by watching what is coming…and put him in a sit/watch me, keeping his attention while the object of his interest goes past. Both of these have worked for me…I have been doing this for 2-3 years with my 3 1/2 yr old pit mix…at this point I can heel him and have him do watch me as we pass anything of interest..but it has taken me a long time to get to this point. You just have to keep working it.
Good luck!

How do I teach my Siberian Husky to stay home?

I just got a 3 year old Siberian Husky and every time he gets off the leash he takes off down the driveway to a dirt road which eventually runs into a highway. How do i teach him to stay home because i don't like keeping him on a chain!

Ignore jim smith. my husky used to do the same. He will follow you if you have treats so its good to have a bag of treat with you. Walk him every day. Male huskies are a pain if not walked daily. They have so much energy. Females are more calm and rather sleep than hatch an escape plan. try the treat thing until he follows you naturally and switch the treats to a toy.
