siberian husky dogs?
hi im thinking of getting a siberian husky and i want to no are they good dogs to have thanks
Siberian Huskies are beautiful dogs but they do not make good pets nor are they family dogs. TRUST ME.
They are closest breed there is to a wolf.
They are not the smartest of dogs, are hard to train and aren't very loyal. They are energetic, need a lot of attention, exercise, restraining and can get out of control with the wrong people.
Only experienced dog owners who know a lot about the breed and understand what they are getting themselves into when purchasing a Siberian Husky should get one.
Sorry, I have nothing against them, I am just giving you an honest answer.
I'd recommend a Goldren Retriever, Labrodar or German Shepherd. They are smart, loyal dogs which make great pets. If you are a big fan of the Huskies why not get a Samoyd Husky? Or get a Siberian Husky crossed with another breed. Siberian Husky X Goldren Retrievers are great. The stupidness is bred out and the beauty is kept in.
Good luck =)
EDIT– If you are have the time and are ready and willing to take on a harder dog and train them correctly by all means get one.

In my opinion yes they do, but it depends on what kind of dog you are looking for.

i've had three in my time. they are a high energy dog that needs mental and physical stimulation. they need to run, they are not a dog to take on walks. they need to run and or get lots of exercise. search this site. there are plenty of good answers on this site. huskies may look cute, but they can pick up many bad habis if not given an outlet for all their energy like digging holes, chewing on furniture. they also can never be trusted off leash. they will run away if given the chance, especially if they don't get the right exercise. think about getting a rescue if you do get one. there are many given up or surrendered because people get in over their heads when they get these dogs.

Well, it depends on your situation, and on what you want in a dog.
The Siberian is a fairly large, very active, very hairy dog. He is not suitable for a sedentary owner, and he is not an apartment dog. He will have a tendency to wander, and he will enjoy digging holes in your back yard. If he gets loose, he can go very, very far.
The Siberian is friendly toward everyone, including strangers. He is not a good watchdog, although his intimidating looks will probably discourage most potential intruders. The Siberian is not a one-person dog, which makes him good for families and social people. He won't be happy alone–he should have people or another dog around. Siberians were bred to work in concert with other dogs.
The Siberian is not the most trainable dog in the world. He is smart, but he doesn't see much point to obedience exercises. He will learn, if you make it fun for him.
Two words–dog hair. The Siberian will shed all the time, and will blow coat at least twice a year. You have to keep after it with daily brushing/combing/raking.
The Siberian is not a good dog for hot climates unless you have AC.
Check the following websites for further information. If you do choose this breed, consider rehoming one or getting one from a rescue/shelter. If you must have a puppy, get him/her from a reputable breeder.

Although each breed has characteristics that are specific to the breed, each dog also has its own personality. Siberian Huskies are HIGH ENERGY dogs, and need to be walked/played with ALL THE TIME. If you don't have enough time to designate just for the dogs then they will get bored and destroy the house.
