PUPPY ADOPTION! I want to adopt/buy/ or rescue a baby siberian husky. what are some good websites to look at?

I am very interested in a siberian husky. my parents said i cant get one til the end of the summer, so i want one that is like only a week old right now. i really want a cute black one but i wont be picky. I was wondering if anyone had any sites for me to visit to look at puppies. I went to a few sites but they are like not official websites! They don't have accurate pictures and the siberian huskies are so expensive! under 500 dollars for a puppy is asking to much but maybe under 750? any sites?!!

Try: http://www.petfinder.com or your local shelter or animal control or pound.

Please be aware siberian huskies are demanding breeds. They are known to be escape artists, have tons of energy, can be pushy and can be very loud.

They can be amazing dogs, but they need a firm leader and someone to give them a lot of exercise. Please make sure the breed is right for you-read books all about Siberian Huskies, which you can find at your local library.

Also, you can use google and just type in local shelter in whatever zip code you occupy. Most of them have search bars that you can use to narrow down your search. Best of luck finding your new pet!

It's AGAINST the LAW for someone to release a pup to it's new owners before it's at least EIGHT weeks old. Expect to pay upwards of $1000.00 for a decently bred pup from a reputable breeder. Go to AKC.ORG for a listing of reputable breeders.

BTW, baby = human
Puppy = dog

you should never buy puppys, check your local shelters. adoption is always the best. many animal shelters have all kinds of breeds coming in from mixes to purebreads. you should save a puppy/dog instead of encouraging breeders, when there are so many dogs being abandoned and mistreated everyday.

If you're near South Carolina, I know a rescue that has two husky pups right now. I'll post the link to it in the source ^^ I just got home from SC a few hours ago where I adopted the third puppy and she's absolutely perfect. Good luck!

Edit - if you're looking to go to a breeder, expect to pay $750 and up for a well-bred puppy. Personally, I'm wary of breeders who don't charge much because, after you poke around some more, you find that they pretty much just churn out puppies to make a quick buck. If you're looking for a Sibe breeder, email me and I can help ^^ I've spent the past year researching Sibe breeders and trying to find good ones so I should be able to help you!

You WON'T find a reputable breeder that sells Sibes under 800$.
If you think that's expensive - I wonder how you'll pay for vet bills, damages to the household, training classes, dog supplies, grooming, etc.
It takes a LOT to care for a dog - and especially a Sibe.
And there are waiting lists for pups. They won't talk to you three times and then guarantee you a pup - they'll ask questions, have you ask questions, meet your family, check out your house, talk to your references, etc.

Why do you want a Sibe? What do you know about Sibes? How long have you researched about Sibes?
[These are the top questions a reputable breeder will ask you.]
How active is your lifestyle? How much do you care about fur? What do you want the Sibe for? Do you care about the way your yard looks? Do you have a completely fenced in yard?

Whoa, slow down! Do not buy a siberian puppy, you need to rescue. If you DO want to buy you're going to look at forking over anywhere from $700- over $1,000 for a well bred siberian. One that is up to standard and has a health guarantee. The parents have been tested for Hip dysplacia and Eye problems (PennHip and CERF certified).

If you go to a back yard breeder, you're puppy WILL have huge problems in 10-12 years that is going to cost you huge amounts of money.

Do your research. Where are you from? We can't help you find a rescue or a reputable breeder unless we know where you are at.

If anything you'd want to get a puppy right now. Being out of school you'll have the most time to train. Siberians are A LOT of work. More than your average dog. This is not a dog that impulse buyers should be looking at.

To find a rescue, google Siberian husky rescue in (your state). Look for a siberian husky club in your state and ask them to refer you to a reputable breeder. Newspapers are a nono as well as ads online.

Read ALL info on this site under "sections:" on left.
